Happy Anniversary to Shaun Calderwood! Ten years, three children, three moves, and more than three pounds later... What a wonderful ten years it's been. It's been hard, we've had our struggles, and we managed to spend our anniversary taking care of sick kids instead of going on a fancy vacation, but I love you now more than ever! Our struggles have made us who we are today, and I'm so grateful I have you by my side through the thick and the thin! You're the best handsome hunk!

This year we didn't end up doing a whole lot to celebrate, but both girls were sick and with an infant it made other plans difficult (we had thought about going to the temple but I didn't want to leave Alex for that long). So we ended up... drumroll... going to the mall??? Insert disappointed face here. Considering we NEVER go to the mall anymore (literally it's probably been a year since I've been to a mall, and even then it was probably just to go and eat at the Cheesecake Factory). Shaun needed some new shirts and pants, and we thought it would be a nice way to spend the afternoon. Let me rephrase, this was actually MY idea. I was the one who voted for the mall. In retrospect it seems that was a poor choice. As it turns out, Shaun and I discovered we are not really "mall people" anymore. Everything was too expensive, the stores are way too trendy for us, and we ended up leaving not buying a single thing. Does this mean we are officially old? Hmmm...perhaps. We did, however, have a nice lunch at P.F. Changs so that was good. Alas, we will have to do something fabulous on our 11 year anniversary instead.
Our ten year anniversary will be remembered as our "Mall Anniversary." *Sigh* But ya' know, even though the anniversary itself was a little bit lame (we were exhausted and everyone was sick), I think we are happier than we've ever been. I certainly love this man who is the father to my children more than ever. He does so much to help me all of the time, and he has really stepped up and taken over the mornings with the girls now that I'm doing baby duty all night long. He gets Ella up and ready for school, gets both girls breakfast, and drives Ella to school on his way to work. Sometimes he even helps the girls make their bed (that makes Mrs. Clean very happy indeed:) When we're speaking the five love languages, I'm definitely an "acts of service" kind of girl, so I've truly been appreciative for his efforts to take over the whole morning for me. We are working at getting into a groove, and now that my return to work is just a few short weeks away, I hope we get that groove down smoothly to make the transition more seamless. Thankfully, Alex is a super good baby! Another post to be devoted to him shortly.
So Happy Anniversary Shaun! I love you mucho, and I love how we've grown together over these last ten years (although I wish our waistlines hadn't grown along with our relationship... hahaha. I'll work on that this year too). Here's to forever!
