Baby You're a Firework!

We have had lots of fun the last ten days.  I've been off of work so we didn't waste any time getting to the lake for our second adventure of the summer at Smith Mountain Lake.  Of course, poor Shaun has been busy working so he couldn't join us, but we met up with Nana and Papa for fun adventures!

We started off with a literal bang when we went out on the boat, only to get caught in a quick moving thunder bumber that left us in the pouring rain (almost to the point of hail) and heavy wind.  The girls were good troopers though.  We were back out the next day for more fun.

We headed back to the "beach" so the girls could play in the sand.

They really did have a lot of fun!

We took the girls to see Monsters University (which Amelia watched none of.  She preferred walking up and down the aisle... sheesh!), we played in the pool, we went for walks, and we had lots of fun on the boat.  Our final day there our cousins from Texas drove in and met us there.  The girls LOVE their cousins so much, and they enjoyed playing in the pool with them before we headed back home to daddy.
Amelia and Lacy have been best pals this week.  Here they are in the pool.

Since we got home last Saturday, we've enjoyed time at the library with Aunt Michelle and Lacy for toddler story time, we've gone to see our new home (new closing date 7/30/13), we've played at the pool, and yesterday for the 4th of July our little family went to see fireworks in Old Town Manassas while the big kids went into DC.
It ended up being the perfect evening.  After three and a half hours at the pool, we took naps so we could be ready for a late night out.  We headed over at 7pm for fireworks, and by the time we parked, walked to the event, and sat down, the fireworks started as soon as we sat down.  It was PEFECT timing!
We had a great view, and I loved that in most of my shots the American flag is hanging in the foreground.  It really was a great evening with just my little family.

But of course the highlight of this week has been time with family.

We love summer for so many reasons, but mostly because it's a time we get to see a lot of our extended family, whether it's our cousins in Texas, Utah, or anywhere else. We look forward to seeing my brother and his family soon, as well as Shaun's parents and his sister for Labor Day.  We are truly blessed to live in this great nation, and to have such wonderful family.
