Victory!

I can remember being 19 and taking the "Intro to Social Work" class at the Y.  Before that point in my life I was still strongly considering interior design or possibly even transferring to pursue a degree in architecture (BYU didn't offer that program).  But as I learned more about the aspects of social work I became fascinated with what options and opportunities would be open to me if I took this path.  I felt a great peace as I shifted my focus from building or designing mansions for the rich, to possibly helping build mansions on high.  I've sense learned that this may not always be the case, but it certainly is a little more altruistic than interior design (though I still love that).  I can still remember where I sat as the professor discussed different career options based on having your BSW, MSW, or the highest level short of your PhD, the LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). I can remember what the classroom looked like, what was on the board, but most intensely I remember my thoughts at that moment.  I realized in the basement classroom of the International Studies building what I wanted out of life.  I would become a LCSW!

Here I sit, ten years later, and I will remember everything about this moment, because today I have officially obtained that goal!  Just hours ago I passed the hardest exam I've ever taken and am now officially a Licensed Clinical Social Worker!  Watch out world... who knows what else I'm bound to accomplish!
