How well I remember the Blizzard of 1996. I was a junior in high school and we got out of school for nearly a month, long enough that they canceled mid-terms and I aced that year with almost straight A's. Yes, it is thanks to the Blizzard of 1996 that I got into college I suspect as mid-terms may have brought those grades down (I don't test well let's just say).
Our huge snow storm that's hit this week has had me reflecting on that last storm thirteen years ago and what a great many adventures I've had in between the two. And yet I still was like a young school child, as excited as ever at the news that we would miss most likely another month of school, and I would get to be home with my little Miss. Some things never change! We have enjoyed adventures in the snow as well as time together doing not much of anything. And thanks to some big digging and some very kind neighbors who snow plowed our road in front of our house we were even able to go out yesterday. They are calling for another 10-20 inches tonight so it was nice to get out for just a bit in between the storms. I'm grateful for heat, I'm grateful for a comfortable home, and I'm grateful for a wonderful family to spend the time with. I'm grateful for the memories of friends and sledding adventures back thirteen years ago. I miss you friends and wish you were close enough still to grab a cup of cocoa and talk by the fire. I'd even spare you the big ramp when sledding so you wouldn't go flying through the air like a wild monkey. So to the memories and to the many more to come! So here's to what I'm calling "The Big Dig of 2010"!

I think you guys definitely got all of our snow this year. Last year we had what you are having, but Utah is more equipped to deal with it. Fun times!
Wish we had all that snow! We had a whoppin' two inches that stuck for a couple of days. So much for sledding in the south! Have fun with it, and stay warm.
wow, wow, wow!! How well I remember being snowed in at waterford downs for a week and no water TO FLUSH! Bless your heart. Well, no matter, Ella looks like she is having the time of her life, and that's what matters.... poor shaun and your dad, the shovel out guys!
Do you all live in the "same" VA that Larry and I had lived in for the past 20+ years? So cool and so unusual! We've had more snow in NC than they've had for years, too, but nothing compared to the feet of snow ya'll are experiencing! The pictures are fantastic, btw! Your daughter looks so adorable in her snow boots and coat! Who would have thought that our little ones would become so accustomed to the snow at such a young age!
